A Country Free

I'm born on a Tuesday in Loudoun Hospital,

Leesburg, Virginia

USA-

A country free

Alongside justice and liberty.

I am born not long from the time

Or far from the place

Where

My mother and father built their lives

Dawn till dusk

Working

Took some breaks from time to time.

Looked up and followed 

The sky's mirrored constellation

To their bright future.

I am born as I fit into my mother's arms,

A lot of people, staring, smiling

chuckling, then murmuring.

I have a vision of me growing up

and turning into a beautiful young lady

With many life-changing paths

Straight ahead of me.

But today-

April 19, 2005

And every day from this moment on

I will be sure of myself

and my family.

I will strive to make myself better-

Better for the world.

I am born in Virginia but

The story of  my future, already run

Like rivers

Through my veins.
